Discovery of Witches is a TV series based on some novels about witches, vampires, and demons coming into conflict with one another in the 21st century.
Thank you for this illuminating essay. I watched the first season in full and enjoyed it! The second season is a bit dull. I also feel zero connection to any of the characters, let alone the main protagonists. Maybe because of the flat acting, or maybe we don't know much about their character yet. When things move along the show becomes engaging.
I liked seeing them use those wedges (like a table with two blocks and a gap in the middle where the spine goes) in the libraries to hold the old books to reduce strain on the spines. The author apparently has a history background, hence those details

And the filming locations in Oxford are truly gorgeous.

My mother was a librarian her whole life and our family has strong ties to Oxford so it's a good show to watch together.
Something for everyone.
I like watching Mathew Goode chew the scenery. He is really good.
